Offspring is at home today, laid low with a sore throat, fever, and assorted aches. I am here merely as a provider of medicine and a pourer of copious amounts of Gatorade. I have lolled in bed all day, while she watches cartoons, and putters around on the laptop beside me. We've snuggled under all of our blankets, and dozed the day away. I am now called into play for the ritual dispensing of chicken soup.
While I'm sorry she's ill, I do enjoy the laziness of sick days.

Wow, the recent crypto-sick days were much less of a party around here. First of all, they don't have gatorade here. Seriously, issues!
I'm glad you had a day to relax with your girl. You both deserve it!
That's the one thing I miss about not having kids. I can't really lie about myself and call in sick, but I bet if I had a kid I could do it.
My Mom was a stay at home Mom, so she was there when I was sick. She was always good about taking care of us. However, I was sick with ear nose and throat issues most of my life. So when you are sick the best thing in the world is Coke (Gatorade now sometimes) but sometimes my Mom wanted me to drink Hawaiian punch...gross. And then she wondered why I got sick - hello acid in the juice.
Chicken soup is the best thing ever. I make it home made every week whether I am sick or not.
Hope offspring gets better.
I hope Offspring feels better soon! Although, I suppose if you have to be sick, that sounds like a pretty good way to do it!
Sorry she's sick but it does sound rather enjoyable.
Can I come over?
I love sick days.
I bet Offspring loves having the time with you!
Thanks for all the well-wishes! Offspring felt well enough to return to school today. Her fever was down, and she got a lot of rest yesterday, so I dosed her up good with Tylenol before setting off this morning, and gave her a handful of Fruit Breezers for her sore throat.
She said she had a fairly good day, and brought home her midterm grades -- nothing below a 91! I'm so proud of her!
Hoo boy. We have the fever-sore-throat-coughing bug up here too, and I can't help thinking that sick days will be more enjoyable in 5 years when they are 7 & 10 and we can watch Pirates of the Caribbean together instead of watching Bob The Builder ad nauseum. Also, by that time, I would like to think they could tell me the difference between "my chest hurts from coughing" and "i'm going to puke", versus the standard, "i feel sick HERE!" (point to midsection). Gaaaa.
Today, Feb. 9th, is my daughter (Marni over at its-a-pugs-life) 40th birthday. Go to my blog site and listen to the song in her honor. Thank you for this commercial break.
I hope she's feeling better.
