It's not the age, it's the mileage....

...and today, my odometer rolled over again. I got that early-morning wake up rendition of "Happy Birthday" from my mother (which was on my answering machine, because there was no way on God's green Earth that I was gonna answer the phone at 7:28 this morning!)

I turned 35 today. I'm slightly freaked out about it. I am less freaked than when I hit 30, though. I guess I just feel like there was so much more I should have gotten done by the ripe old age of 35. I am quite happy with what I've got -- don't get me wrong -- but I felt like I should have left a more lasting mark.

So, I shall have dinner with my husband, daughter, mother, and stepfather tonight, and I will enjoy the wonderful gifts my family has given me, both literally and figuratively, and be at peace with my mileage.

Happy birthday, you young 'un. From my advanced age of 35 and one-quarter, you look like a mere babe in the woods!

Will you whippersnappers keep it down! You make it hard for me to find my Geritol.

Happy Birthday, KLee!

Thanks, APL, Phantom, and Dr. Dog! I appreciate the well-wishes. Dr. Dog, I'm sorry that we've disturbed your search for the Geritol. (Did you check the medicine cabinet?)

I know 35 isn't something I should spaz about, but I'm a weirdo.

I don't know where I related this story, but my class gave me a cake on Thursday, and one of my students asked me how old I was. I asked him, "How old do you *think* I am?" His answer? "Um....82?" So, I'm feeling my age.

:)

Happy Birthday!!!

Mr. S will be 35 in Novemeber, I will have to let him know he is in good company with you and Phantom.

I don't think you are silly for freaking out. When I turned 30 this year, it was sad to leave my 20's behind even though I didn't want to any younger.

Happy Birthday, you young thing you!

I am 36-and-a-half and proud of it!

Thanks to all for the birthday wishes! I know I shouldn't worry so much about a silly number, but I still do. Don't know why, though. Oh, well. I figure if that's all I have to worry about, then I'm very lucky!

I had a birthday this weekend too, and I am feeling the same mixed feeling . . . and mixed about my mixed feelings.

But Happy Birthday to you! Hope you had cake for lunch and dinner. I did. :)

Happy Birthday, lostinthemiddle! Are you an October 15th baby, too? Glad to see you over in these parts! (I always love your whines over at Phantom's, btw.)

We can grouse about the age thing together. :) Pass the cake!

Me? Fifty-frickin'-three! So the reverse sounds really young. Happy Birthday, KLEE! (late, but nonetheless heartfelt)

Thanks, R2K's! I appreciate the enthusiasm. At least you didn't ask me if I was 82. :)

YT -- like I said, it's not the age, it's the mileage! Besides, you look GREAT for 53! (Will I upset you if I reveal that my mother is only a few years older than you?) Should I call you "Mom"? :)
