Moving On

On Friday, May 25th, Offspring graduated from elementary school. We were all very surprised and gratified to see that Offspring was one of the students awarded a Presidential Award for Outstanding Academic Excellence. We're so proud of her. Congratulations, Offspring!

Congratulations to your Offspring!

Maybe it's just my neck of the woods, but I didn't even know they had actual graduations for elementary school. Cool. I hope you made a big fuss about it, too, KLee.

It wasn't really a "graduation", but the school has a special ceremony because the kids are ending their time at that school. A rite of passage, if you will.

For example, Offspring attended that school from kindergarten through fifth grade.

We did make rather a big fuss about it. All her family attended -- mom, dad, grandparents. We bought a special "grown up" dress, she got gifts.

I'm so proud of her. And the Presidential Award was a welcome surprise to all of us!

Yay, Offspring! You must be so proud!

I like the rite of passage quality to this. Going from elementary school to middle school was a huge and scary change for me - I wish they had done this type of ceremony way back in the 20th century when I was a lass.
